The Simplicity Foundation has made another $379,000 in donations to various Kiwi charities, bringing to $4,715,909 total donations from the nonprofit KiwiSaver Scheme.

The donations are fed by member growth, with 15% of all fees going to the Foundation.

Since Simplicity won default status as a KiwiSaver Scheme last year, membership has risen to more than 130,000. The growth is great news for New Zealand charities who have won a long-term friend in Simplicity.

Managing Director, Sam Stubbs, said it was tremendous to see the charity donations grow so quickly over such a short period and to be able to help communities during such a tough time.

“At this rate, by Christmas we will have donated over $5 million to great Kiwi charities in the six years since we started. And the more we grow, the more we can give”.

The latest recipients are as follows:

  • Trees that Count - $105,000 to plant native trees nationwide, bringing our total to 135,000. That’s a tree for every member!

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters Auckland - $80,000 for the Mentor Coordinator who mentors up to 75 people in Auckland.

  • First Foundation - $44,000 to provide two places on First Foundation’s 4-year Leadership Programme, helping financially disadvantaged and academically talented young NZers to achieve their potential through tertiary education.

  • Inspiring Stories - $75,000 for a second year of support for the Future Leaders Programme, aiming to connect, inspire and empower young people in regional NZ. (Participants at the recent Future Leaders regional summit in Whangārei, featured in the photo above).

  • Young Enterprise Scheme (YES) - $75,000 to support to provide entrepreneurial education activities for rangatahi Māori across the country.

Simplicity started in 2016 and has just recently celebrated its 6th anniversary.
