We invest with a conscience

We don’t invest in companies with significant exposure to the fossil fuel, alcohol, tobacco, gambling, adult entertainment, civilian firearms, military weapons, and nuclear power industries. It’s the right thing to do.

Making a difference

Lobbying for change

When we invest our members' funds in a company, we get a voice on their behalf. We can speak up when we see something we don't like.

And as a large fund manager, we get actively involved in helping shape laws and policies where we can make a difference.

Recent examples include promoting lower KiwiSaver fees, improved housing policies, investment in New Zealand infrastructure, and advocating for better governance at Fletcher Building.

More homes for Kiwis

Build to Rent homes - our funds' investment in Simplicity Living is helping to solve the housing crisis by funding high quality rentals for hardworking Kiwis.

Community housing - We believe housing is a human right, that's why our funds invest in bonds that provide financing for community housing.

First home loans - We offer one of NZ's lowest cost first home loans. Our 6.40% floating rate (with no early repayment fees) means homeowners can be debt free faster.

Giving back

15% of all investment management fees we earn are donated to the Simplicity Foundation.

The Foundation provides charitable funding to four core sectors: the environment, youth development, education, and homelessness and hunger.

Whether it's redistributing food destined for landfill, planting native trees, supporting career aspirations and education pathways for our young people, the Foundation aims to support charities having real impact in our communities.

Caring about our environment

Nature-friendly homes

When Simplicity Living builds homes, the focus is on reducing the amount of waste vs standard house building practices.

And homes are built well in excess of the building code, with efforts made to minimise their long-term environmental impact.

No fossil fuels

Companies that earn significant revenue from production of fossil fuels (thermal coal, oil, or gas) or from providing supporting products or services to fossil fuel producers, and overseas companies that earn significant revenue from electricity generation from fossil fuels.

Planting lots of trees

We love native trees %)

In partnership with Trees That Count, the Simplicity Foundation and Simplicity Living fund the planting of a native tree for every new Simplicity member and one tree per week for every rented Simplicity Living apartment.
