Simplicity Living stories

When "fabulous" is the first word that comes to mind, you know you’ve found something special.

That’s how Lyn and her husband felt the first time they viewed their Simplicity Living apartment. “We fell in love instantly,” Lyn says. “It had everything we were looking for - it was fabulous."  What followed were several sleepless nights waiting to find out if their application had been successful. They were.

More than just a place to live

Their home is part of a thoughtfully designed development with beautifully maintained gardens, safe walkways, and practical features like night lighting, designated parking, a secure bike shed and a full-service refuse station. As Lyn puts it, “It feels like we live in a resort.”

But the real difference is the peace of mind that comes from security and stability.

“Just knowing we could take out a lease for 10 years was a major for us. We no longer live in fear of receiving a letter to vacate because the property’s been sold. That long-term lease means peace of mind - a real roof over our heads.”

Everything at the doorstep

For Lyn and her husband, the convenience of the location is another huge plus. “Transport, shops, parks, doctors, hospital and malls are all nearby. There’s even a shop within walking distance when we run out of milk, and a laundromat close by. With our Gold Card, we can leave the car at home.”

When asked if their lives have changed for the better since moving in, Lyn doesn’t hesitate: “Yes.”

Being able to settle in a beautiful, affordable home has been a huge relief. They’ve made their ground-floor apartment their own, adding personal touches to the patio and garden. “It’s a weight off our minds knowing we have a secure, long-term home.”

A community that feels like home

There’s also a genuine sense of community. “You can choose to be neighbourly or not,” says Lyn, “but we like to help out where we can. It’s lovely to see the children playing and to share a smile or hello with other residents.”

One special memory stands out. “At Christmas, we put up decorations like others in the complex. We added a little ‘Letters to Santa’ box outside our gate. One day we found a letter from a girl asking for a ‘Smiggles’ pencil case. On Christmas morning, she found a gift bag with the pencil case and a few treats outside her door. Her joy was unforgettable. We were absolutely chuffed.”

The best ad she ever clicked

Lyn first discovered Simplicity Living through a Facebook ad. “I hadn’t heard of Simplicity before and it sounded too good to be true, so I ignored it - but it stayed in my mind. Turns out, it was the best Facebook ad I’ve ever read.”
