Crimson Education

Ivy league college counselling service Crimson Education has always aimed to be top of its class, and it is one of the more successful companies backed by Icehouse Ventures Growth Fund I which Simplicity invests in.

A few badges that Crimson wears on its lapel:

  • 709+ offers to Ivy League universities
  • 233+ letters of offer to Cambridge and Oxford
  • 4700+ offers to top 50 universities in the U.S.
  • 1850+ offers to the top 10 universities in the UK.

Lesser known facts:

Co-founder Jamie Beaton, now 27, started the company with two student colleagues as a freshman in college while he was still wearing braces. He recently became one of NZ’s youngest rich listers.

The late Julian Robertson, Tiger Management hedge fund billionaire, was a supporter and investor, providing Beaton with some key connections at his alma mater, Harvard University.

Former New Zealand Prime Minister Sir John Key is also said to be among Beaton’s close circle of contacts. Key is chairman of Crimson’s Advisory Council. Key also, very publicly, put his name behind Beaton’s latest initiative, an online high school.

Crimson's mission is to empower students with the tools to shape their future. By providing access to top-tier educational opportunities, it helps to create pathways for young talent to realise their dreams.

Crimson has a global presence, spanning North America, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Asia. This international reach provides significant growth potential.

Crimson employs advanced data analytics to identify students' strengths and weaknesses, crafting personalised education experiences. This data-driven strategy gives them a distinct advantage in the education sector.

Crimson works closely with high school students to guide them through the competitive college admissions process, connecting them with the world's most prestigious universities.

The results speak for themselves. Crimson students have secured placements at Ivy League institutions, Oxbridge, and other prestigious colleges and universities.

Otago graduate Connor Cowie, who recently completed his BSC, used Crimson’s medical school coaching service, an adjunct of Crimson called MedView.

Cowie said the mentoring he received was helpful as he navigated post-graduate applications and university options.

Some critics have complained their price point is out of reach of the average family. However, Crimson does offer scholarships for those that can’t pay.

Using data analytics, Crimson customises its services to match the unique strengths and areas of improvement for each student. This personalised approach sets them apart in the education landscape.

Crimson Education is a company with a purpose, a vision, and a track record of changing lives through education.
