Simplicity Charitable Trust makes largest donation to date with $100,000 to Kiwi charities

Published on 23/12/2018

As another year draws to a close, it's a time for reflection and gratitude.

Our membership and funds under management doubled in 2018, making Simplicity the fastest growing KiwiSaver scheme %)

This is a great achievement for a nonprofit start-up taking on the banks. Our members are our greatest asset. Thank you for helping us grow.

One of the great things about our growth story, in addition to saving Kiwis millions in fees, is that we can donate more to charity.

15% of the management fee you pay goes to the Simplicity Charitable Trust, which now adds up to almost $6,000 a week.

The more we grow, the more the Trust can give away. Our hope is to one day be able to give away $10 million a year.

We're making great progress. This Xmas, after a thorough selection process, the Trust is making its biggest donation ever, totalling $100,000, with an emphasis on helping underprivileged children.

The donations are:

Bellyful- $30,000 to support the opening of two new branches to provide cooked meals for young families with children in need.

The Dingwall Foundation - $5,000 to send 80 foster children to a 7-day camp in Northland this January.

Variety- $40,000 to support the 'Have a Go' and 'Laptops for kids' campaigns for underprivileged children.

Young Enterprise Foundation- $25,000 to provide financial education for teen parents in schools.

As a Simplicity member, you’re helping these kids and families in a time of need. Thank you.

Happy holidays from team Simplicity %)
