At the Simplicity Foundation we support charities under our four giving pillars of the Environment, Youth Development, Education and Homelessness/Hunger.

We currently focus our Environmental giving on supporting initiatives in conservation and strengthening Aotearoa New Zealand’s natural environment and biodiversity. We believe that a thriving ecosystem will enable flora, fauna, and sea life across and around Aotearoa New Zealand to flourish.

We do this primarily by funding tree planting and supporting other projects aiming to help protect and restore biodiverse natural environments throughout the motu. We're also interested in ways to support our marine environment and have a special interest in the Hauraki Gulf.

Because of limitations on our resources, although we value the important work they do, we do not currently support charities protecting specific endangered species or fund environmental education projects.

As part of our 2023 giving programme and to help support local grass-roots community environmental groups we have allocated $100,000 for a round of one-off grants between $5,000 to $20,000.

We would love to hear from projects throughout Aotearoa New Zealand focused on restoring our natural environment and biodiversity.

If you’re a registered charity and would like to apply for some funding, please send an email to foundation@simplicity.kiwi telling us in 500 words or less (written or video format):

- Who you are
- What you’re aiming to do
- How our funding can help

You will also need to include a short message from a current Simplicity member telling us why they support the project.

Applications close on Wednesday 24 May 2023 and we’re aiming to announce the final grants by the end of June.

We appreciate everyone who takes the time to apply. Sadly, we won’t be able to support all projects.
